Since the end of school, I’ve had a full time job. Needless to say, i’ve been making a lot of money, and I havent had much to spend it on, so I decided to go ahead and finish building my Windows Home Server.

I already had the case… which I bought about a year ago with the hopes of building a media centre pc, that didnt go over to well. After I scrapped that I decided I would build a WHS system for our home network. Since all I had was a case, (you can check it out here, its the silver one) I needed to buy everything else.

Here is my parts list:

Motherboard: Gigabyte MA74GM-S2

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (About 2.9GHZ)

Memory: OCZ SLi 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHZ (2×1024MB)

PSU: 585W No name silver box (Orion I think)

Hard Drives:

  • 1 x Seagate ST3500320AS (500 GB)
  • 1 x Seagate ST3500410AS (500 GB)
  • 1x Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 (1 TB)

And of course the OS is Windows Home Server with Power Pack 1.

The build went very smoothly, the motherboard is labeled perfectly. There were no problems with attaching the case leds, power switch or reset switch. The motherboard has 6 SATA connectors which is perfect right now. I have plans on adding another 1-2 TB hard drives later on.

I decided to go with AMD because of the price point. I picked up the processor and motherboard for $200 combined, which I think is a very good deal for a 2.9ghz dual core processor, and for a motherboard that has very few complaints.

Integrating it into our existing network was also a breeze. I decided to keep it wired, and connected it to our router. Right now we only have a G network, but will soon be upgraded to N by the end of the week. After a couple days of doing the nightly backups, a speed increase is definately in the works. Transfering 700GBs of Movies/Pictures and home video isnt a speedy operation on a wireless G network.

Well, thats my little home server adventure thus far. I’ll leave you with some screen shots.

Well I’m done my first year of college.Turned out to be way better than I thought it would… met a lot of new people, made a bunch of good friends :D Cant wait to party over the summer… Hopefully we can all get together.

I’m gonna be working full time at a printing company this summer, I worked there over the summer before college, so I know what goes on and everyone who works there. I’m also going to be making a buttload of money, so that’s always a plus.

I also plan on adding a lot of content to KillerBlog. I had a lot of trouble finding code examples and such on the Internet, and I plan on making tutorials for everything I thought was hard. If the first years in game programming next year have all the same assignments, they’re going to get a lot of use out of my blog. I’m going to be aiming to put up at least two tutorials a month, that’s going to be my bare minimum.

I’m also going to be using my blog for whatever else I feel like posting up, like this pointless post im making now. It really doesnt have to be posted, I just felt like putting something up on here and getting my thoughts out.

Anyways enjoy your weekend :D

Exams are all next week, I think I have 6… maybe 7? I really gotta study this weekend for them, as well as throughout the week. I will be so happy when they’re done, I cant wait to be done for the year and be working over the summer.

Over the summer I plan on working on this blog a lot more, I kind of neglected it over school. School took up a lot more time than I thought it would, but I didn’t really know what to expect.

I plan on experimenting with the different programming languages I learned over school and posting my results on here. I want to write up a couple tutorials and share them with everyone.

Another thing I would like to work on is to get more visitors to this blog. Right now it’s getting anywhere between 30-50 hits a day. Whenever I make a post it usually spikes up to about 70 hits for that day. My goal isn’t to make money from this blog, although in the beginning it kind of was. From now on I would just like to see the content I make get viewed by people.

Anyways if you know anyone who might like this blog, please pass it on and tell them to subscribe to the rss feed :)

Well my exams are over with. I hope to spend some more time on this website as well as my new paintball website I created, Paintballer Tips. I have submitted all of the articles that are on the site to Ezine Articles so far, but no other sites just yet. I plan on submitting those articles to a bunch more article directories soon. It just takes sooo much time to do each article… its such a pain in the ass.

I hope to spend some more time improving Killer Blog. I know I’ve pretty much let the site go to the shitter.. I haven’t had any time to work on it, and I feel like I’m neglecting it. I plan on posting up some school work I’ve been doing. If you dont already know I’m enrolled in Game Programming at Humber College, so most of the stuff I’m going to be posting up is going to be programming code. We haven’t really made any games just yet, but hopefully soon enough.

I think I’m going to be releasing my own product soon. I’ve actually already written up the first draft of it, and I got someone to proof read it and fix any errors, so I just have to polish it up and package it up nicely. After that I have to write up a sales page to entice people to buy it :) The method is doing what I’ve been doing the past couple months to make money online. I don’t really want to give out any more info because it’s a hot topic right now, and I want to keep it for myself lol. I’ve actually been thinking about just keeping the method to myself and if I find something better, then release the eBook. Right now it’s working, so why would I give away how I do it?

Expect some more content from Killer Blog soon.

Well I signed up for twitter a couple weeks ago, and so far I actually like it quite a bit. I haven’t been using it a heck of a lot, but I have been using it every other day or so. Here is an update of my account status:

twitter user stats

Those stats arent amazing, but they were achieved with very little work. I actually only followed about 10 really popular people in the beginning. They were in the “Make Money Online” niche and other entrepreneur niches. I also followed some celebs just for kicks. I also added a pic of myself to my account. I made about 5-10 updates every week, sometimes more, and the followers just kept pouring in. I was getting  10+ followers a day for about a week straight. I actually turned off email updates because it was annoying haha.

Since I’ve started using it, I’ve managed to add 5 people to my subscibers list. I setup TweetLater I think it’s called to send out private messages to people once they follow me. It seems to be working out pretty well :)
Anyways that’s my rant about Twitter. I’m enjoying it so far, and it seems to be working out as a good marketing tool.

Feb 23

Lately it seems like everyone is on Twitter. I didnt really know what the whole thing was about, so I thought I might as well join it and see what everyone is talking about.

I read a lot of stuff about how people make a lot of money using it, sayin that its kind of like an email list. I guess you could think of it like that. It makes sense really, if you have people following you, and they get all your messages, its kind of like an email list. You could send stuff out and everyone would see it.

Right now im not really spending a lot of time getting followers, and to be honest I havent spent one second going it, and I already have 20 followers haha. I signed up last night and since then Ive been getting people following me. Granted, when I signed up I added everyone on my gmail and msn list to my following list, and I also added 5 random people who someone told me to follow. He said those 5 people were in the internet marketing niche and make money online niche. I thought it would be cool.

Im pretty sure all of those people who followed me were looking for a follow back, which isnt a problem, but when I did, they sent me pretty lame messages saying “Thanks for the follow, if you want to make money online go here: [insert tinyurl.com link here]” I know theyre trying to make money but they could be less intrusive abou it lol.

Ah well, i’ll see how it turns out. I’ll follow some of my favourite bloggers, and see what happens.
